Symptoms of andropause are experienced by a vast majority of men in their late 40s to early 50s. It is a part of the aging process and is primarily caused by lowered levels of the hormone testosterone in the body. Also, at this point in life, estrogen levels can rise and men’s progesterone levels will fall.  Some of the common symptoms of andropause include decreased bone density, fatigue, decrease in muscle mass and sexual dysfunction. There are many who also experience other symptoms such as anxiety and panic attacks. Sleep disturbances and weight gain are some other symptoms found in men during andropause.

Hormonal imbalance, just as in the case of menopause for women, is the primary cause for andropause. For example, lower levels of testosterone directly effects sex drive. Andropause is considered the male equivalent of menopause. Similarly, decreased levels of other important hormones such as progesterone and estrogen are responsible for some of the symptoms experienced by men such as depression and night sweats. There are many who also experience symptoms such as loss of height and chronic fatigue with the onset of andropause.

Natural hormone replacement therapy is known to provide relief from the symptoms of andropause.  Using bioidentical hormones as this therapy will help to improve overall health and increase a man’s sense of wellbeing. Hormone replacement therapy is a result of extensive research in the field of medical science. This therapy supplements and replaces the diminished levels of hormones. These hormones, known as bioidentical hormones are systematically introduced into the body. Natural bioidentical hormones are produced using natural sources such as plant extracts and are therefore considered safe for use.

Hormone replacement therapy is known to improve overall health.  Symptoms that men feel when andropause has started, such as mood fluctuations, lowered libido, depression and fatigue will disappear. Those suffering from insomnia caused by andropause are also known to benefit from bioidentical hormones. The risk of someone developing serious health issues such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease is also reduced to a great degree, once they begin bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.  Speak with your doctor to obtain hormone testing and supplementation of your diminished hormone levels with bioidentical hormones.
